Microneedling in Sewickley

Safe and Effective Rejuvenation

Microneedling, also referred to as collagen induction therapy, is a long-standing medical aesthetic treatment. The process involves pricking the skin with tiny, sterile needles to create micro-wounds. These wounds signal the body to induce its natural healing process, stimulating collagen growth in the skin. Collagen is the protein that keeps your skin strong, smooth, firm, and healthy!

Whether you’re suffering from skin issues such as acne, rosacea, or enlarged pores, or you’re simply ready to refresh and revitalize your appearance, microneedling in Sewickley is a fantastic, versatile option! The process involves minimal discomfort and a wide range of benefits.

Our Microneedling Process

Step 1

Arrive on Time

We prefer that you arrive on time for your appointment so you can take advantage of the full time for your microneedling appointment. You are able to fill out most required forms during your consultation, so you should not have to arrive early for paperwork.

Step 2

Relax & Enjoy

Trust that you are in the hands of an experienced member of our esthetician team, and just take this time to enjoy the microneedling process. Microneedling is not painful, but it can be uncomfortable for some, so our team will make sure you’re as comfortable as possible for your appointment.

Step 3

Reschedule

For microneedling in Sewickley, most clients need anywhere from 4–8 sessions to experience the best possible results, so after your session, we’ll give you aftercare instructions, and we’ll schedule for your next session. You won’t see your microneedling results immediately, but you will be able to see your renewed skin appear over the next couple weeks!

How to Prep for Microneedling

Medication & Topical Agents

Avoid using retinoids, topical antibiotics, exfoliants, AHAs (e.g., glycolic acid) and BHAs (e.g., salicylic acid), and other topical agents that increase skin sensitivity for at least 1 week before your treatment. Also, do not take anti-inflammatory and blood-thinning medications, such as ibuprofen, aspirin, ginkgo, vitamin E, fish oil, etc., for at least 3 days to avoid interference with the natural inflammatory process.

IPL/Lasers/Sun Exposure

Do not have any IPL/laser procedures for 2 weeks prior. Avoid sun exposure and all tanning methods for at least 2 weeks.

Shaving/Waxing

Do not wax, epilate, use electrolysis, or use any other hair removal methods on the treatment area for at least 1 week prior. Additionally, avoid shaving the treatment area on the day of the procedure to avoid irritation. If you have dense hair, closely shave the area the day before your appointment.

Hydration

Ensure you are adequately hydrated, as this helps the healing process.

Accutane

Tell your specialist if you have been on Accutane in the last 6 months or if you are prone to cold sores.

Bare Skin

Please arrive with a bare treatment area, clean of any lotion, oil, makeup, powder, perfume, or sunscreen.

How to Get the Most From Microneedling

Washing

Wait at least 4 hours, then gently wash with a gentle cleanser and cool water, using only clean hands.

Icing/Medication

Do not ice the face or use any arnica or bromelain to avoid interfering with the natural inflammatory process. You should also avoid using anti-inflammatory medications (ibuprofen, Advil, Motrin, etc.) for at least 1 week. You may use Tylenol for any soreness.

Other Things to Avoid

Avoid topical skincare and Retin-A products for 5 days or until the skin is no longer irritated. You should also refrain from sun exposure and strenuous exercise that causes sweating, as well as saunas, jacuzzis, and steam baths for at least 48 hours.

Sleeping

Sleep on your back with your head elevated to minimize swelling or pain as needed for 2–3 days.

Picking/Scratching/Scrubbing

Do not pick, scratch, or scrub any peeling or flaking skin. Allow this to occur naturally and keep skin moisturized at all times with a hyaluronic acid serum.

Follow-Up Appointments

Schedule follow-up and repeat treatments after 4–6 weeks to continue to see results!
